(void *): Gnumeric Package for Nokia 770
I have just released the gnumeric package for Nokia 770, but unfortunately I can not say it is ready. I had a lot of trouble packing it and most of them were solved, but one (maybe the most) important issue is still pendent. The application does not appear in the task switcher. I tried many things to make it work, but my ideas are gone. I hope someone can help with this one. :) Another big deal is about the dialogs which are not ready either.

Crimson Fields
Crimson Fields is a tactical war game in the tradition of Battle Isle.
The outcome of the war lies in your hands. You decide which units are sent to the front lines, and when to unleash the reserves. Your mission objectives range from defending strategically vital locations to simply destroying all enemy forces in the area. Protect supply convoys or raid enemy facilities to uncover technological secrets or fill your storage bays so you can repair damaged units or build new ones in your own factories. Lead your troops to victory!

Doom ported to the Nokia 770
Not strictly GNOME related, but close enough for us to appreciate the coolness of the hack. Seems some crazy guys have ported the classic game Doom to the Maemo environment.

Infotrope Polymer, fast email for Nokia 770 and Maemo
Infotrope Polymer is an experimental, but usable, client for IMAP, ACAP, and Submission - in other words, it's an email client. It's built specifically to be a low bandwidth, fully roaming client, and incorporates more standard and standards track extensions than any other.

MobileRead Networks - FBReader 0.7.1a is released
A new version of FBReader (http://only.mawhrin.net/fbreader/) is available. Changes: Added package for Nokia 770. Fixed bug with file opening on reiserfs. Added support for iconv (this makes it possible to use system encodings and in general speeds up the conversion). So finally a package (http://only.mawhrin.net/fbreader/maemo/) for Nokia 770 (http://nokia.com/770) is available. And if you are lucky owner, I'd appreciate if you tried the package and share your experience :) I'd like to thank Nikolay Pultsin who created FBReader for his Zaurus (a Linux based computer as well) and then helped me with porting to Maemo (http://maemo.org).

Nokia 770 Internet Tablet
Nokia includes a modified version of Opera as its default browser. A port of Minimo, a reduced-footprint version of Mozilla for handheld devices is on its way. Chances are you'll be fine with Opera, as it has robust JavaScript and Flash support. It was able to handle just about every site I threw at it, including CNN, ESPN, and this one.

Running PINE on the Nokia 770
Running PINE on the Nokia 770
It may seem surprising to some, but PINE is actually extremely well-suited to use on devices with touch screens, if you set its enable-mouse-in-xterm option so that it registers taps on the touch screen.
