We have been playing with the Nokia 770 for about two weeks. Unlike the WIP-330 we reviewed, this is a remarkably robust first generation product. The 770 is not a cell phone, which is a bit of a deviation for Nokia. The 770 is strictly a handheld internet device that relies on WiFi or Bluetooth for its connection.

The Nokia 770 turned out to be a nice client for internet radio and I got used to using it quite a lot for that purpose. But the joy ended when I moved to a new appartment two weeks ago because since then I am without internet connectivity. In the meantime I have my desktop PC up and running again and it features a small MP3 and OGG collection that I can listen to. So now I would like to get access to that music collection from another room. The internal wireless network is up and running, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to get that music to the 770, should it?

I keep a bunch of open (creative commons, etc) music My Nokia 770 to listen to when I'm reading research papers... I'd like to have my audio player put my network card in ad-hoc mode and automatically share a listing of all my tracks, and the tracks themselves as read-only.

Simple website for selecting Nokia 770 compatible radio stations. Mostly news and information radio stations in English, from all around the world. Every station has been tested on a 770. Website is in a large font to make it easy to use on the 770 without zooming.

Renato Oliveira has finished porting Rhythmbox music player for Nokia 770. The install package is available for download from here. In addition of being a great looking music player, it also has support for podcasting and DAAP.
